THE SPITZ!
Elliot Spitzer
You have to give the guy credit. The man worked his way from New York State AG, to Governor, then got busted with a prostitute. His political life in ruin, he could have settled for a job out of the spotlight; but the man bounced back, has a new show on CNN, and is proving to be quite good at his job - and entertaining as hell!
As a Democrat, Spitzer has supported the legalization of same-sex marriage. As Governor, he proposed just such a bill, only to have the measure shot down by the shortbus state senate.
He is smart as shit. A leader at Princeton, he went on to Harvard Law and then worked his way up the food chain. Unlike so many other elite Harvard Law D-bags (such as those featured in the standup documentary "Inside Job" -- incidentally featuring Spitzer) he used his powers for (mostly) good.
Spitzer is well known for enjoying a hearty shit down the neck of Wall Street. In addition to coming down hard on white collar crime, he took on the Gambino crime family.
Now that he's done with high-class hookers, we hope, he has brought his ball-kicking sensibilities to CNN. On his show, Parker-Spitzer (which should probably be called Spitzer-Spitzer), I have seen him cut past the rhetorical nonsense and asks questions that would never occur to me: sometimes because he is incredibly focused, but mostly because he always seems to know just as much, if not more, about the genius details than his often-unwitting guests. To be frank, I don't often understand the financial details he debates, but I always come away understanding that there is more going on within the circles of power than is apparent to an outsider.
After seeing Spitzer rearrange some Republican congressman's asshole today, I have to say that he is great fun to watch, and hopefully he will reenter the political arena in the near future. We could use his help.
